In a world filled with negative newsfeeds and heads buried deeply in our phones, it’s no wonder that many people feel that we are actually becoming more disconnected. However, the remedy for this rude world can start with two simple words: thank you. Multiplied by millions, this small act can manifest a big change and kick start a cultural movement. And did you know that research proves that simply writing down what you are grateful for triggers positive health benefits?
Last spring, we launched #ThankList–a documentary series and simple way of saying thank you to those that have had a great impact on our lives. A bucket list may be the things you want to do before you die, but a #ThankList is a list of people you want to thank to feel alive. This is a list of people you want to express gratitude toward for helping to shape your life, and it’s a step toward a world that’s just a little bit nicer.
This November, we are asking people to take a gratitude challenge in the simplest form possible: a Tweet, Instagram or Facebook post that names people for whom they’re thankful. Here’s how you can help:
Take our #ThankList #30DayChallenge!
Each day this month, we’ll be posting a prompt on Instagram to challenge you to think of someone who has shaped your life–and to say thank you to them! (You can preview all of the days in the above image, too!) To participate, create a post on social media to say thank you to someone important to you and use #ThankList and #30DayChallenge.
And during this season of gratitude and giving, we are partnering with United Way Worldwide to give back. For each #ThankList shared on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, we will donate $1 to United Way Worldwide (up to $30,000). Funds donated during the campaign will be allocated towards hunger prevention.
Please join us in helping to make the world a more thoughtful and caring place and make your #ThankList today!
