This special Mother’s Day post comes from our dear friend and content partner, Bonnie Marcus!
As a Mother of three, Mother’s Day means many wonderful things to me.
First, I am so grateful to be a Mom and have a wonderful husband and three little boys to celebrate with on this special day.
Second, I am so very thankful to have the most wonderful Mom in the world (in my opinion) to enjoy the special day with as well.
My Mom instilled in me many special values…. to ALWAYS be nice, NEVER give up, follow my PASSIONS, and someday I could be PRESIDENT – all of which has helped me to have the confidence and ability to be “president” of my own design studio! I am forever grateful to her for instilling such important values in me since I was a young girl.
My favorite gifts to give my family are ones that are treasured long after the holiday is over (like a beautifully designed greeting card : ).
Last year my children surprised me with a very special Mother’s Day gift that continued to give us wonderful presents months after the holiday was over!
On Mother’s Day last year, I had to go to my design studio in the morning to finish up the last pages of my new Fashion Style book. While I was gone, my husband called me and said, “You wouldn’t believe what the boys did for you this year!” As a designer, of course I thought the kids made me a beautiful card or a beautiful piece of artwork, but when I came home, I couldn’t believe my eyes!
My husband and the kids had rushed out in the morning to our local gardening store and built me a very special “Mother’s Day Garden” in our yard. From tomatoes, cucumbers, and eggplant to kale, peppers, dill, parsley, and mint, everything was very well-planned and absolutely beautiful! Not only did they set up the garden, they also promised to take care of it too!
Over the past year, we have truly been enjoying this very special Mother’s Day gift. From family gatherings to neighborhood barbecues, everyone loves visiting our beautiful Mother’s Day garden and enjoying the fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs that the boys take pride in picking themselves for every event. A gift like this not only is wonderful for the recipient, but it is a true treasure for the family as a whole. In addition, the boys have also developed a new passion for cooking as well, which is a wonderful gift in itself!
I can’t wait to see what they are going to surprise me with this year!
