Johnny Appleseed Day—March 11th. Born John Chapman in 1774, Johnny Appleseed was a pioneer and conservationist who introduced the apple to parts of the Midwest. He was also a roving philanthropist. He traveled the country giving away clothes, land, horses and trees. Celebrate with an apple or two.
