You’re wrapping the perfect gift for someone special. They’re going to love it, but you really feel like this one needs that extra oomph to build the excitement.
That’s why in this gift wrap tutorial, we’re setting the ordinary ribbons and bows aside and bringing out the pom-poms. (Because you know it’s about to be a celebration when pom-poms are involved.)
All you need is tissue paper and basic craft supplies to kick your gift wrap game up a notch. Follow along to make your own!
Here’s what You’ll Need:
- Your wrapped gift
- Tissue paper
- Glue gun
- Tape
- Scissors
To make the ribbon, cut a two-inch-wide strip of tissue paper and fold it in half.
Wrap the tissue paper ribbon around your wrapped gift, about a third of the way down. (You can also wrap it around the center if you prefer.) Tape the ends together on the underside of your gift, then set it aside.
Place a single sheet of each color of tissue paper together and cut a 5-6 inch strip lengthwise.
Use your scissors to create fringe along the length of your tissue paper strip. The area between each snip should be very narrow, and each snip should go only about halfway through the tissue paper strip.
After you’ve made the fringe, start rolling the strip, pinching as you go along to keep it all together
Staple the base (the non-fringe end) together, then trim off the excess with scissors.
Looks like a pom-pom, right?
Now it’s time to add the pom-pom to your gift. Take your hot glue gun and place a dot on the tissue paper ribbon you’ve already made. Then carefully adhere the pom pom to the gift.
It’s really that simple! We used multicolored tissue paper, but feel free to use other colors to coordinate with your gift wrap.
