What To Write In A Valentine's Day Card For Her

Valentine’s Day is approaching — time to heat things up! And what better way to do that than by getting all romantic-y with that special lady in your life? There are many ways to surprise your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day, but a guaranteed way to put a smile on her face is to give her a nice Valentine’s Day card with a bonus message written just for her — by you!

But what do you write in a Valentine’s Day card for your wife, fiancée, or girlfriend? That can be stressful. No worries though. Because as long as it comes from your heart, she’s bound to love it. And you!

Before you get to writing, how about a few general tips:

• Focus on her: What she means to you, what you admire or love about her, how she affects your life. Include a favorite memory, inside joke. Anything that displays how much you appreciate and care about her is a winner here.
• Write a rough draft. By this I mean, jot down a few phrases on a scrap piece of paper. Just things that come to mind. Don’t worry if it’s good or not. Just write as much as you can, as fast as you can. Then choose the phrases that mean the most and use those as the basis for your “final draft” that you’ll write in the card.
• It doesn’t have to be long. Don’t feel like you have to write a lot for it to mean a lot. If you’re saying what you feel, then that will mean more than anything.

The Playful and Humor Options

• You’re the PB to my J… Or is she the secret sauce on your burger? The potato chip crunch in your sandwich? Think of what you really love in life and make her a personified, metaphoric counterpart in the equation.
• Of all the amazing things we’ve seen {and where?], you’re more amazing than all of it! Where did you spend time together? Insert it into the sentence above. If it was a beach vacation — she’s more amazing than all the shrimp in the buffet and umbrella drinks you can handle, right?
• Being with you is better than… What’s your favorite thing? Your best pair of jeans? Your music playlist? Your favorite band? Of course you love her more than that, right? Just make sure you wrap it up with a nice “For real/I really mean that,” etc.

And there you go. Now go forth and write like only YOU can. Remember, the perfect words come straight from your heart. Don’t worry about making them sound as if they were written by a poet. You just want her to know how you feel. We spend so much time dealing with the craziness of life, that we rarely take the time for that. And sometimes, expressing how you feel can be tough.
